College Bound!

We talk a lot to Jaxson already about the importance of going to college.  How it is important to study for your weekly spelling tests, know your math facts, study your vocabulary words, and so on, because they are all stepping stones on the path towards college.  Yes, the teacher in me does not think it is too early to plant the seed of college.  As a teacher, I know having high expectations for kids contributes to high achievement. Although, realistically Jaxson is 7 and right now college only interests him because he loves and follows college sports.  He mostly loves University of Michigan! : )

This morning as we were getting ready for school Jaxson asked me, "Mom, how much would the cheapest college cost?"  I replied, "I'm not sure Jaxson, but college is pretty expensive and cost a lot of money."  He then pondered for a few moments and then sweetly said, "Mom, I can go to Education Connection it won't cost so much, on tv it says it is free." He has obviously seen the Education Connection commercial a few too many times. The one where the girl goes to college in her pajamas online. he...he... : ) I then told Jaxson, "Don't worry Jax, we don't have to pick out your college anytime soon."  "Mommy wants you to one day go to a college that you like and that is best for you."  So, for right now I think we will worry about 2nd grade not college!
