A Martines Little Chirstmas

Our holidays have been full of so many blessings and memories.  We hope everybody had a joyful and bright holiday season with their family and friends too! Lots of Christmas cheer and blessings from our family!

Some of our favorite holiday memories...
  • Jax & Maddy coming home with their own ornaments (that they picked out) from the family ornament exchange.  They got attached and liked their own tree picks.  Jaxson's Surfer Santa ornament was a hit!
  • Our family elf, Tinsel visiting and hiding for the 25 days of Christmas.  Every morning the boys loved to find Tinsel and read his notes from the North Pole.
  • Jaxson wearing his Santa hat everywhere and not taking it off.
  • Taking the boys on a "Mom and Son Date" to see The Nutcracker.  We went with our good friends, Sarah and her two boys.  Maddox asking, "Why are the ballerinas dancing in their underwear?" He had never seen a leotard, quite a finding.  Jaxson giggling when the adult male "Cavalier" dancer came out with really, really, tight pants.  Boy, going to the Nutcracker with boys was a experience to say the least!  Cultivating my boys into a female world of sports was quite interesting and comical.
  • Our family ice skating with Santa and his elves, Jax is so speedy on his skates this year.  He gets going really fast then squats down to feel the speed.  Maddox was determined to skate without the "A" frame walker this year and does amazing!
  • Decorating sugar cookies, The boys' motto, "The more sprinkles the better!"
  • Maddox telling everyone that he asked Santa for a red motorized scooter, but Santa said he was too little for it.  He was actually alright with Santa's decision, thank god! Can you imagine Maddox going 10 miles per hour on a scooter?! I can barely keep up with him now and his feet are on land!
  • Maddox getting a real Woody doll for Christmas and loving him.  Jaxson loved him too! Jaxson would steal Woody to sleep with after Maddy fell fast asleep. Ily got a Jessie doll and loves her too!  They are quite the duo Jessie & Woody and Ily & Maddy!
  • Daddy loving his AC/DC collector glasses from the boys!
  • Snuggling under mommy's Snuggie!
  • Ice skating after Christmas with Papa, Mi Mi, Uncle David, Shelby, & Ily.  Mi Mi saying, "I'm not going to be sore, I was not even out of breath!"  I had to remind her that she was not skating fast enough to be out of breath. he...he... :  ) Ily even asked, "Why did you not skate fast Mi Mi?"
  • Making HOT chocolate and putting ice cubes in it.
  • Rushing to the movies to see Yogi Bear and getting to pick any seat in the house.  Better early then late Jay!
  • Jaxson so excited to go to mass on Christmas Eve.  He got out of the shower and wrapped a towel around his waist like a grown man and asked if he could put on deodorant.  He reminded me of Macaulay Culkin on Home Alone!
  • Maddox enjoying seeing the Nativity scene from our seat in church and waiting for baby Jesus to be laid in the manger.  Once everyone stood up in the beginning of mass he yelled, "PEOPLE, I can't see!"
  • Christmas Eve at our house with family, yummy enchiladas & margaritas!
  • Holding Maddy's hand and walking in the snow to Starbucks to get hot chocolate (and cold chocolate).
  • Jaxson entering the new technology era...he loves his I Pod Touch!  He tells us the weather everywhere, from here to Michigan.  He loves texting his Michigan cousins too. He is very particular about texting words spelled correctly. I think he has a little Kristen in him. : )
  • A picnic outside with the neighbor kids a few days after Christmas.  They happily ate their lunches outside on a sunny winter day.
  • During the holiday whenever we heard "Joy to the World" Jaxson grinning at me with a big toothless smile.  He learned a different version at school something about, "barbecuing Barbie's head"....oh brother! We do not promote violence in our home. : )
  • Maddy telling everyone that they were on the Naughty List when he got mad at them.  Little did he know he chaired the Naughty List! he..he...
  • The holiday fashion, wearing dri-fits and football jerseys.  A Saints jersey was the #1 pick!
  • Remembering and greatly missing Grandma Lu Lu this Christmas.
  • Mostly the love, the excitement, and the magic the holiday always brings to our family, no matter our age.
