We started back to school on August 19th. As much as I love summer and devour every minute of it, the boys and I were ready to get back into the school routine. After all, I guess we can't hang out at the pool when it snows. : ) I know daddy too, was ready to get some uninterrupted sleep during the day. I just know he did the happy dance as he sent us on our way on the first day of school (although he won't admit it). : )
Back to school time is always so bitter sweet. It is exciting to start a new year with new students, staff, and a fresh start. Although, it makes me sad as a mom to look back on how fast the previous school year flew by. Also to end a summer of being home with the boys.
Jaxson was very excited to see who his teacher was and which of his buddies would be in his class. This year he was very particular about picking out his school shoes. He knew exactly what he wanted, style and color. Maddy was thrilled to carry his new Buzz Lightyear lunchbox and Dr.Seuss backpack. I picked out the boys coordinating outfits as usual (I wonder how long I can get way with them matching, maybe until they are 18?). I guess I still have some mom power on picking out clothes (except for Maddy, that is a whole separate blog in itself).
My little Jaxson is starting the 2nd grade, two classrooms over from my classroom. Maddox is beginning a new year in the 3-4 year old classroom at the Bilingual Montessori. It takes a few days of school for me to get adjusted to their new stages and to get over the fact that they are growing up no matter how I feel or what I do.
I wonder if they will always pose for a picture on the first day of school? Our classic first day of school picture in the front yard with the boys wearing their new clothes, backpacks, shoes, and freshly cut hair. I love that we all start our first day of school together. As Maddy says, "Are you going to teach your kids?" I will take all I can get and always make our first days of school a celebration. I hope the boys will always have special memories too.
